Richard Edwin Julian

In addition to losing Gabbie in 2023, we lost a close family friend.  Mr. J as I and my family referred to him, passed away in May.   He was a huge fan of Gabbie’s.  Periodically, I would get text messages from him asking why she wasn’t hitting as he watched Drake softball games.   

His daughter, Kerri and I became friends in first grade and he was our softball coach.  He was more than a coach to me; he was my second dad.  He always provided a warm hug and would remind me of our glory days playing softball at Memorial Park.   

Because of the Julian’s, our kids grew up together and continue to be the best of friends.   After his death, his family chose to have donations directed to Gabbie’s memorial scholarship.   We are deeply touched by their generosity knowing her scholarship will continue for many more years.
